Tip # 53 Never pay for boxes when you move

Aside from purchasing 4-5 super sturdy boxes for heavy valuables like your tv and computer, it is so easy to get free boxes if you're planning a move. Most businesses break them down and throw them away (or hopefully recycle them). All you have to do is call around, explain you are moving, and ask if you can swing by early in the morning or in the evening to pick up some boxes. I'm lucky enough to work in a hospital where thousands of boxes get broken down daily. Grocery stores, office supply stores, and liquor stores are other good places to get boxes from.
